Kingsford Community School

Beyond the Curriculum: Clubs and Activities

The Kingsford Co-Curriculum

Pupils at Kingsford Community School enjoy an experience that goes well beyond the classroom, with a diverse range of after school clubs to cater for all interests and abilities. Pupils are actively encouraged to engage with our co-curricular provision and take advantage of the vast array of options to choose from. Everything from Debate Mate to Coding, Cooking to Illustration, the RAF Combined Cadets Force to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, is designed to enhance our pupils’ experience at the school, and to support their academic, personal development and career ambitions. Far from being just “fun and games”, our carefully structured and balanced programme allows pupils to extend their progress in the following categories: Creativity, Culture, Community, Careers and Challenge.

Bringing pupils of different ages together to explore common interests together also strengthens our school’s unique sense of community, encouraging pupils to strengthen and develop new friendships, and to appreciate the value of teamwork and collaboration.

Kingsford pupils take advantage of important opportunities to develop their oracy and confidence. These include public speaking and debating activities, writing and filming news reports, being a language leader or member of our international welcome team, and advocating sustainable causes through the Green Team.

The school boasts extensive on-site sports facilities and offers a wide choice of sports, through both compulsory PE and extra-curricular activities. Our teams perform consistently well in football, netball and athletics, for example, and pupils enjoy a range of performing arts experiences. Our co-curricular programme encourages pupils to be active and healthy, both physically and mentally, and its impact on pupils’ learning and outcomes is tangible in the Kingsford classroom and beyond.
