Kingsford Community School is proud to have its very own Combined Cadet Force squadron. The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) programme is designed to enable the development of personal responsibility, leadership and self-discipline. The programme also links well with the school’s own FIRST values of Focus, Integrity, Respect, Self-Determination and Teamwork. Becoming a cadet has a proven impact on pupils' confidence, personal development and employability.
The Royal Air Force Air Cadets’ aims are to:
- Promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force among young people
- Provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life
- Encourage the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship
Membership of the CCF (RAF) is exciting, rewarding and above all fun. Pupils discover new skills, do things and visit places they never thought they would, and meet lots of like-minded people who become team-mates and friends. Every year the CCF (RAF) provides cadets with approximately 36 flying scholarships, with every cadet having the opportunity to have at least one flying lesson with a qualified RAF pilot.
Every week, our cadets take part in command tasks, fieldcraft, drill and other exercises designed to develop teamwork and leadership. In addition they also take part in a summer camp, enjoying team and character-building activities in an outdoor setting.
“Being a part of the cadets is something I feel really proud of. We learn a lot about discipline and belonging. I love the weekly parades, and knowing that by taking part I am opening the doors to a brilliant future”, Year 11 Kingsford Cadet.
