The Governing Body
The members of a Governing Body work collectively to perform a strategic role and carry out key functions such as: setting the aims and objectives for the school; setting targets and policies so those aims can be achieved and monitoring and evaluating the progress the school is making towards its established aims and objectives. There is a wide variety of expertise within the Governing Body at our school thus governors are a reliable source of challenge and support to the Head Teacher, they are a 'critical friend'.
The School Governing Body includes representation from staff and parents, as well as our Sponsor Governors. The Chair of the Governing Body at Kingsford Community School is Mr Paul Jackson; he can be contacted c/o Kingsford. There are two sub-committees of the Governing Body. The Finance, Personnel and Premises Committee is responsible for scrutinising the school's budget, expenditure, Human Resources and dealing with the PFI Company from whom the school leases its premises. The Curriculum Committee is responsible for scrutinising the school’s curriculum arrangements and levels of attainment across all years.
The Clerk to the Governing Body is Andrew Barr; he can be contacted on 02074764700 ext. 114 or at abarr@kingsford.newham.sch.uk.
