Arrangements for 27th April and 2nd May 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

Re: Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May 2023

National NEU Teachers Strike

We are writing to confirm the arrangements for Thursday 27th April and Thursday 2nd May when there will be a National NEU Teachers Strike.

Due to the expected level of staff absence on these days, special arrangements will be in place as follows.

Years 7, 8 and 9

Pupils in these year groups will undertake independent study on both of these days, as no lessons will be taught. There are a range of learning resources available via the school’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The resources, some of which are self-marking, include SAM Learning, Seneca, Lexia and others. We would also encourage your child to spend some time reading the subject-related materials that are available on the VLE or enjoy some time reading for pleasure.

We are sorry about the potential disruption to you and to your child’s education. We understand that this situation may be frustrating and ask that all of our school community continue to treat each other with respect at this time.

Year 10

Year 10 pupils will attend school for their Pre-Public Examinations. On Thursday 27th April, all Year 10 pupils will arrive at school at the usual time for their morning examination, and pupils will be dismissed at the end of their last examination. On Tuesday 2nd May, only those Year 10 pupils who have practical examinations or support sessions they’ve been invited to will attend school and will be dismissed at 2.55 p.m.

Year 11

On both of these days, Year 11 pupils will follow a special timetable, and will arrive at the normal time of 8.20 a.m. and will be dismissed at 2.55 p.m.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to make decisions that prioritise the wellbeing and progress of our pupils.
