Year 6-7 Induction Day and Parent Information Evening Thursday 7th July
At Kingsford Community School, all our transitions are planned carefully to ensure that pupils feel welcome and secure. The following arrangements are in place to support pupils preparing to join Year 7 in September 2022 and their families. Kingsford Induction Day – Thursday 7th July 2022
The Kingsford Induction Day is an important event, where customarily your child has their first experience of secondary school life at the Kingsford school site whilst in Year 6. The scheduled Induction Day for pupils preparing to join Year 7 will take place Thursday 7th July 2022, which is a centralised Newham date given to all secondary schools.
Your child should arrive at the main entrance of Kingsford Community School at 8.15 a.m. and be collected from this entrance at 3.15 p.m. Your child should wear their Primary School uniform, and suitable, comfortable footwear for outdoor activity. Lunch will be provided on the day, and your child should bring a water bottle with them.

Baseline Assessments
To support with the primary to secondary transition programme your child will undertake a computer-based assessment during their Induction Day (Thursday 7th July 2022). Your child does not need to prepare for the assessment as there is no pass or fail mark. Please ensure that your child has their own set of headphones that can be plugged into a headphone socket of a computer for when they do their assessment.
Year 6 Parent Information Evening – Thursday 7th July 2022, 6.00 p.m. - 7.00 p.m.
The Parent Information Evening will take place on Thursday 7th July 2022 from 6.00 p.m. until 7.00 p.m.
The event will allow you and your child to hear from the Head Teacher, the Year Progress Leader and other Kingsford Community School Staff who will be play a crucial role in your child's academic and personal development. The session will also provide a wealth of essential information to support your child’s transition including, timings of the school day, uniform requirements, the Home School Agreement details, and other frequently asked questions. This evening will also be recorded and a link to this and all other important information will be put onto our school website.
We are committed to supporting your child during their transition from primary school to secondary school, particularly given the impact of the pandemic for Year 6 pupils. Therefore, the evening will include responses to pre-submitted queries or questions. If you wish for any specific matter to be covered, please ensure that you submit your question via email to the school at admissions@kingsford.newham.sch.uk before Friday 1st July 2022.
